Second large earthquake hits Haiti

A second large earthquake has just hit Haiti. This one was a 6.1 magnitude quake on the Mercalli Scale. Last week’s quake was a 7.0, and while there have been 49 aftershocks since then of at least 4.5, this is the first that approaches the earlier massive quake. It seems the previous January 12th quake, and aftershocks that followed, had already done so much damage that this new large one had not much else to destroy. That is pretty depressing. If you hadn’t planned to donate before please know that there are multiple ways to donate to the relief effort. Please consider even a small donation.

Ding dong the bitch is dead.

So Martha Stewart was found guilty. I’m happy as hell that she was put in her place. Here is a woman that is worth hundreds of millions, if not billions via her holdings in Martha Stewart Omnimedia. Yet, for some reason, she decides to put her personal reputation, as well as her corporation’s brand image, on the line for 4,000 * 60 or roughly $240,000. Most people do the math and say, “She must be telling the truth. Who would be so stupid?” The reality is that most CEOs are control freaks. They have gotten to their position of power, wealth and influence because they are right more often than they are wrong. Many HATE being wrong and will do anything to avoid being wrong. Most of them are assholes. She deserves what she gets. I hope she has a girlfriend in jail real soon. I wonder when we’ll get to read her next article; Tossing Salad in a State Penitentiary.

The News

The news is so depressing. I’m not really sure why I watch it. Something makes me turn it on each night. Tonight’s news told us about 2 pregnant women that were beaten to the point of losing their babies. We saw Marines killed in Iraq. There was a horrible fire in NJ that left firefighters with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. There was a car accident on I-80 that killed a mother, daughter and grandmother leaving man without his sister, niece, and mother. They were on their way to a religious retreat when their brakes apparently failed. Lastly we have the Port Authority of New York / New Jersey that wants to put a Bus Station at ground zero. They want to put it under the memorial ground. Don’t you love how respectful the government can be? It’s only been 2 years, and already NYC is back to the same old shit. Man.. I really need not to turn on the news at night.

Ohio Man Admits To Taking Part In Plot To Destroy Brooklyn Bridge

I found a story on NY1 that an Ohio truck driver admitted Thursday he was part of a terrorist plot to sabotage the Brooklyn Bridge. This is some scary ass stuff. I don’t know about other New Yorkers, but I’m freaked. Here we are in June, and coming up in 3 months is the 2 year anniversary of the World Trade Center. I am not sure how to stay in New York City, and not go koo koo. For anyone that doesn’t know, I was a first responder to the WTC with an ambulance on September 11th so for me all of this is a little more real than for someone that watched it on TV.

16 DIE IN JERUSALEM BLAST

Sixteen people were killed and more than 100 were wounded when a Hamas suicide bomber, dressed as an ultra-Orthodox Jew, detonated his explosives belt on a bus in downtown Jerusalem Wednesday. A number of those wounded in the Jerusalem bus bombing Wednesday afternoon included pedestrians outside the nearby Clal Building, a shopping center in the city’s downtown area, on Jaffa Road. Forty-five people remained in hospital Wednesday night. Ten are listed in ‘serious’ condition. The rest are listed in ‘light-to-moderate’ condition.
